Zuma's Revenge • Re: LEVELING UP FASTEST

By noworries777 » October 10th, 2017, 5:42 am

Yes, it is the time it takes to play.

Personally, I can't stand to play the game for the two hours or so that it takes to run through every round and build up a 350,000 point score. I can do 5, maybe 10 rounds, and maximizing the ball count in those rounds is what I want to do, to rank up.

I find trying to avoid combos with perfect precision and still prevent the balls from reaching the demon's mouth is just about as much fun as setting up the combos for a high score.

(Shrugging.) Just making the observation for those to whom it may be valuable -- playing well slows down ranking up.

It's not the time between rounds. It's the time it takes for the combo animation.
Those don't help for ranks and take some time. Few seconds each, but when they happen every other shot they slow down rank progress a lot.
Playing for lower scores (avoid combos) does speed up rank progress, whether it's fun or not is a matter of personal preference.

It's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

One may get more shots per round by not playing to maximize score but it still take the exact same number of shots to rank up regardless of if you do it in one round or three. Unless the wait time between rounds feels unbearable, there isn't a great advantage in playing for a lower score just to shoot more balls per round.

As with all games, it's purely a matter of personal preference.

But this is my point -- all those things that are worth points, that get you towards the 300,000 point great game, do NOT help you level up faster.

The only thing that counts is shooting balls. If you shoot a group of 2 balls, you get 2 level up points. If you shoot a group of 6 balls, you get 6 level up points.

If you shoot out a color between two matching colors, say the red group between two blue groups, you get no level up points for the smashed together blue groups. You only get level up points for the red balls you shot out.

Playing well with skill, scoring in the 300,000 range, does NOT help you level up.

If I play well on a level, get the skill shots, get the fruit, beat the target time, I can rack up a 25,000 point round, but only gain 27 points toward leveling up. If I play "badly" and try to avoid all the skill stuff, I can get 75 to 80 points towards leveling up on the exact same round.

Also, you level up pretty fast for the first 10 levels. After that, it gets really really slow -- 30,000 shot balls per level. Takes ages.

I've been leveling up fast. But I concentrate on gap shots, fruits and combo shots. You get major points for those. Also, the levels above around 6 get more points than the lower games. So if you combo, gap shot or get fruits on the higher levels, they're worth more.

Zuma's Revenge • LEVELING UP FASTEST

By noworries777 » October 7th, 2017, 3:16 pm

I have been playing this game for years (and am only on Level 19), partly because I only recently noticed that playing well does not make you progress more quickly.

Record times and hitting fruit and making long chains of collapsing collisions -- none of this helps you level up.

The only thing that pushes you up the ranks is shooting out a single group of balls. None of the mirrored collapsing collisions count toward your ball total for leveling up.

So now when I play I concentrate on making no mirror collapses. I regard those as errors and try for a "perfect" game of only shooting out solo color groups. And I am making MUCH faster progress towards the ranks.

Heck, I may even make Rank 20 by year's end. :)

If it helps, this thread has a list of what ace times are for each level:

viewtopic.php?f=190&t=86158

Try for the fruit to end the balls coming out more quickly. The fruit advances your meter quite a bit. And try for gap shots. Combos and chains increase your meter, too.

Those are all described in the thread linked above.

Yes, most of the NEW games but not the old ones.
Try Poppit or Sweet Tooth, Mahjong Garden, etc. You can leave in middle of the game and come back hours later and your game will still be there, right where you left and you can continue, finish and get credit for it.

I really do not understand why the "timing out" anyway.
Why? just asking ;)
But if it has to be this way then give us more than only a few minutes before the session times out!

That Badge is a duzzy. I played on the first level over and over again. So, much so, that I'm not in a hurry to play the game any time soon.
Good Luck!

Zuma's Revenge • Beat Ace Time

By zoesueboo » August 22nd, 2017, 6:04 pm

Does anyone have any hints to beat the ace time ? I'm working on a badge that you have to beat the ace time 10 times, and after hours of trying over 2 days, I still only have 2 toward the required 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm too old for quick reaction games ! LOL Thanks !

I was wondering the same thing. It's ridiculous that you have to start all over.

If a person is called away and the session times out, why do you have to start over. Why doesn't it come back to where you left off....seems like a lot of waste of time and effort. :(
