The object of Word Whomp™ is to make as many words as you can from the six letters in the middle of the screen. Words must have at least 3 letters, and they can't be proper names, abbreviations, or contractions. Make words by clicking the letters in order. For example, if you wish to spell "CAT," click (or type) the letter "C" first; then "A"; and then "T."

When you finish making a word, click the on screen ENTER button or press the "Enter" key. If the word is in the puzzle, the word will appear on the signs at the top of the screen. Spelling words will advance the digging gopher towards the veggies and token bonuses.

As soon as you reach the "Spin" carrot, you'll receive 10, 50, or 100 tokens (depending on the difficulty level), a jackpot spin, and tokens for each additional word you find! If you reach the "Last Word" in this witty word game, you will be rewarded with 200 more tokens!

Jackpot!
If you munch your "Spin" carrot, the Jackpot Spinner will spin as soon as your current word game ends.

If the Jackpot Spinner lands on the word "JACKPOT," you'll win the jackpot amount shown on the left side of the game . The Jackpot gets bigger every second, so the longer you play, the more you can win.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Word Whomp player.

All words in the puzzle contain 3 - 6 letters. Proper names and abbreviations don't count.

Skill Level 1 is easiest, so try this level first. When you've mastered the basics, move on to a higher skill level. At the higher skill levels, your potential token bonus is greater.

If you're stumped, click the MIX UP button. When your letters switch places, you can often find words that you may have overlooked. You can click the MIX UP button as often as you wish.

After you reach the "Spin" carrot, longer words will earn you more tokens than shorter words. So always look for 5- and 6-letter words while entering shorter words.

Words are listed alphabetically within each bracket of 3, 4, 5, and 6 letter words. Use this to your advantage as you try to spell the last few words in the game.

At the end of each word game, look closely at the words you didn't find. These words will probably show up in future puzzles

The Word Whomp dictionary does not include every word in the English language - instead, only those words that are in relatively common usage are included.

If there's a "s" in the puzzle, don't forget to add it to as many words as you can to make plurals!

Not "or more" but exactly five-letter words that start with C, R, or T.

Thank you again CAGal :)
Yes I know this is only a members forum and not pogo techies. I just thought that someone would know the answer as the forums have a lot of players that know a lot about everything :P that's why I came here first ;)
Ok my next option is send a letter to the editor and hope this can be explained, and hope it doesn't go as the old saying goes "curiosity killed the cat"

Are you making sure the words you feel should count are of five letters? No other length will give you credit.

*what cagal said. Many people are missing this in the description.

In all the years I've on Pogo, I have never seen a room with "Closed" on it. I've seen "Full, but not closed. So it isn't something I can offer an explanation for. Sorry.
You would need to ask Pogo the question of the difference. This is only the members forum and there aren't usually any Pogo Staff reading the posts.

I'm playing the same badge and the requirements are that you have to get 50 five letter words that start with a C R or T and not that those letters have to be in the word and it's a 5 letter word that has to start with those letters.
Hope this helps ;)

Word Whomp • mix n match badge - Vocabulary Builder Badge

By Laria57 » February 10th, 2016, 12:42 am

Why am I not getting credit for the badge I am working on in Word Whomp?? I've shut down the screen, the entire Club pogo rooms and then I even shut down completely and re-booted my computer along with updating JAVA. Not sure where to go from here? Any one else having these problems and/or have an idea on how to fix this so I can start getting credit for my badge??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for replying CAGal
But the amount of players in the room isn't the question. It's why is the room closed and you can't get in even tho the room isn't full. I can see if it says room is full then you can't get in but it says closed and you can't get into it even tho the room is not full. So I guess my question is what is the difference between closed and full rooms? ;)

That question has been discussed and answered several time. The room count you see, it's the correct one. Just like in the HOG and Pogo Parlor Games. It may say only 1 or 2 players in a room, but when you enter there are as many as 20.

Word Whomp • Why does it say room closed

By Summerbrzz » February 9th, 2016, 5:25 pm

Why does it have closed rooms in Word Whomp 50's rooms? I was going to join a friend in the Golden Oldies room and the status says closed. Does anyone know why it would be closed when there are only 16 players in that room and also in the the club rooms it says status closed and the rooms aren't even full.
Just curious ;)

Thanks, Mod-Skratty- somehow I missed that they had to be five letter words. I'm still mystified as to how I got credit for three words on a board that did not even have the letters C,R or T.

The Word Whomp dictionary is what it is. It won't be changing unless they rewrite the game.

All we can do is memorize (or even write down) the words the game uses so that we can remember them the next time.

I cringe every time I see the letters for "funner" but I know that I need to type it anyway.

I play in the UK English room but a lot of the words are not in English dictionaries or are American spelling, French or Spanish.
I google lots of the words but they don't appear to be used correctly according to how English people actually speak, adding 's' etc. where not appropriate.

Click on the Chat Rooms Tab and then look underneath the game.

Next to Game Mode: Tick the button for American English or UK English.

Skill Level 1 is the easiest level to play on, so try that level until you become familiar with words that are frequently used in the game.

Word Whomp • English spelling rooms

By look4laugh » February 8th, 2016, 7:13 pm

Why are so many of the words in the English spelling rooms not actually in an English dictionary but quite often foreign words and spellings and American English?
Also, lots of the words either need a degree in medical science or Ancient history to ever have heard of them or know what they mean.
Sometimes you can submit a word several times before it actually appears on the game list to win a round :(
