Battle for world domination with every roll of the dice in Risk!

Based on the classic board game of strategic conquest from Hasbro, Risk comes to life online where the object of the game is simple: Global Domination! Establish your military objectives, take command of your army and begin your campaign to rule the world. Risk is a turn based game with each player starting with their own controllable army in an attempt to capture territories from opposing players and control the entire map.

Acquire
The game of Risk starts with players taking turns selecting, or acquiring, a territory until all territories have been claimed. Once all territories have been claimed, the Deployment Phase begins.

Deploy
In the deployment phase, players place their remaining units on territories they occupy. Deployment is done one army per turn and ends when the last player has placed his last army.

Attack
Take turns with other players as you receive reinforcements, attack and ultimately capture your opponents' territories.

Fortify
Don't forget to strengthen your defenses and fortify your territories! Doing so will help you take control of the entire map.

RISK is a strategic board game for 3-5 players. It is played on a map of the Earth, divided into 42 territories on 6 continents. Each player starts with and controls their own army and attempt to capture territories from opposing players. The object of the game is simple: Global Domination!

At the start of each game you will choose your color then acquire and deploy your armies. Next, you will take turns with the other players as you receive reinforcements, attack, and fortify your defenses. Capturing one or more territories will earn you a territory card. When you collect three identical or three different territory cards you may cash them in for bonus armies. Capturing and controlling territories and continents also award bonus armies each turn.

Capturing territories comes during your Attack Phase, where you eliminate occupying opponent armies through a series of simulated dice rolls. The odds of victory are typically obvious (the army with the most units will usually win), but luck of the dice can reduce a sure victory into a shocking defeat. The element of "risk" is ever present!

Your game ends when you have control of the entire map (the default global domination rules), control 24 territories (an optional rule), you run out of turns and victor is declared (based on a combination of armies, territories, and territory cards), or you are eliminated. Good luck and have fun!

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Risk player.

If you prefer a single player game, click on the "Play against Robots" link on the Risk game home page. You will find the artificial intelligence to be a worthy opponent!

Risk plays in a super-sized 1000 x 600 game window. If you find the game window extends beyond the edge of your monitor, close the application and reset your screen resolution to at least 1024 x 768.

If you would like to begin your attack with less than the full attack dice (which then forces you to move fewer armies into the captured territory), RIGHT-click on the target opponent territory and you will be given the choice of attack dice (up to 3 if you have enough armies).

RISK cards become increasingly important as the game progresses, as each time the cards are turned in the number of bonus armies increases.

When customizing your game know the audience. Most players will be turned off with manual dice rolls or may not like the automatic set-up option. Gather your hard core RISK friends and play a long, manual dice rolling, no time limit game, or grab a few strangers for an ultra-fast game with all the speediest settings chosen!

Risk • Re: Too many ClubPogo Risk rooms

By DavidPowerz » May 11th, 2017, 8:37 pm

I also agree there are way too many rooms, especially club pogo rooms.

The reason why Pogo should SUBSTANTIALLY reduce the amount of rooms is because paying players (such as myself) are often online and playing but split among so many rooms that game matching becomes nearly impossible. If there were two Club Pogo rooms, Anything Goes and Rainbow Room for example it would be a huge benefit to all players.

Risk • Credit Card Builders ad

By ppJoanLLP » April 21st, 2017, 12:18 pm

This ad, a video showing a static image (as long as I've watched it), shows a run time of 2 hours and 24 minutes. Fortunately, it has the Skip Ad option, but why is it there at all?

Risk • Non-playing player

By silverstreak1973 » April 19th, 2017, 2:06 pm

I was in a game this morning with 5 players. One player didn't play at all. No placement, no reinforcement, no attack, no fortify. We put up with that thinking that player would get kicked out. NOPE - after the non-players 2nd turn, when the fortify time ran out, WE ALL got kicked out of game. WHY???? The non-playing player should be the only one kicked out. PLEASE FIX THIS

Soo frustrating!! :x
In my years of playing monopoly on this site is the first time this happens to me, after any video ad my game does not return to the table, so I have to stand and rejoin the table which is very annoying. Apparently, this does not affect all players, but I really hope you find a solution to this problem. :(

it seems to happen after some ads (like Airwick, that has a video) and not others (UPS) that just have a static ad. But it has been going on for over 10 days and it is really frustrating--I have been able to finish only one game out of 10. Please fix this!
