Pogo™ Bowl How To Play

Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Pogo™ Bowl Tips and Tricks

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Pogo Bowl

Again this eve Pogo Bowl froze then went blank (white screen) & then would not reload, so I lost my game (probably 1 of my best with a score heading for over 200 for my team for tournament). It froze & knocked me off 3x yesterday & 1X day before, but I could get back on & start a new game. This is very annoying. It's hard to believe that EA or Pogo don't check or monitor these forums since many posts I have read do deal with issues like this. What a shame!

Pogo Bowl • Pogo Bowl

By GriffBlayzze100 » July 19th, 2018, 9:17 am

I am not a new pogo player but I am on a new account after not being on for a few years. Why is it during a game if it freezes during the frame that the ball disappears and the pins are still aligned as if nothing was touched? and I lost credit a few times for strikes and spares.

Gold pins are always few and far between.
I had hoped that they would have thrown a few extra in yesterday though for the daily. 1000 tokens isn't worth the time it would take - unless you get really lucky!
All I saw in 5-6 games were silvers.

Played 10 games and no gold pins in yesterday's daily games(07/17/18). Plenty of Silver pins. I had 200 games, turkeys, doubles, and 150 in 9 of the games. What's up with the game?

Completely random for sure. I was lucky and got it early in the games, I believe the third game around mid game. I have had times when I just played so long without seeing one that I gave up on it. I found something that was more fun to play.

Gold pins are very random.... for every 6-7 silver pins that show up, you may get a gold one. It took me until about frame 4 in game 4 to get a gold pin. It's just pure luck when it shows up when you play.

I don't know of anyone who got a gold pin on yesterdays game. We couldn't hit on down with the ball if no one had one appear.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Getting over 200 points??

By Mod_Jada » July 17th, 2018, 8:07 am

Making a lot of strikes will definitely help you reach your goal.

I'm not great at the game but I've managed to score over 200 points many times.

Also, you might not be seeing the top players' scores.
If there are many people in the room the score list is usually two pages.
If you are near the bottom score then you are seeing the second page, not the first,

Pogo Bowl • Getting over 200 points??

By skyla2008 » July 17th, 2018, 7:45 am

I am working on a badge where I have to score over 200 points (twice) to get the badge. This seems almost impossible. Even in rooms with a lot of people, the top player is usually under 200 points. How does this work? Are you supposed to get only strikes in order to get over 200 points?

I bowled for an hour and not a single GOLD pin showed up! How am I supposed to knock down a GOLD pin to win the daily challenge if they only put SILVER pins in the game? :x
