Limit Mode
Limit Mode is a more casual version of No Limit Texas Hold ‘em.  It features a simplified betting system, the ability to join a game in progress, and the option to re-stake and continue playing when out of chips.  Limit Mode does not utilize the ratings feature.

No Limit Mode
No Limit Mode is a tournament-style Hold 'em poker game geared towards the more serious poker player.  In this mode, players stake once and play until only player remains.  Furthermore, betting is wide-open; the user can raise up to his entire stake at any time!  Four players are required to start a game, which gains intensity over time via increasing blinds.  Games can be rated and further regulated by a "rating required" option, which allows players to group by similar skill levels.

Jackpot & Tokens
There are two ways you can earn a Jackpot spin:
  • In Limit Mode, you must win 4 hands (spelling S P I N at the bottom of the screen).
  • In No Limit Mode, you win a Jackpot Spin by being the last player remaining.
The Jackpot Spinner spins like a slot machine. When it stops spinning, you'll win the prize indicated on the spinner or perhaps the JACKPOT itself! Members of Club Pogo are eligible for DOUBLE JACKPOTS!

Stakes & Tables
When you sit down at a table, you will contribute some of your token balance into your "Stake". This represents the amount of tokens you set aside for betting. All players who sit down at a table use the same stake. In this poker game, the nice thing about using a stake instead of your total token balance is that a player with a thousand tokens can play a player with a million tokens and it's still easy to tell who's ahead in the betting.

Practice First!
You're going to be winning and losing real tokens when you play any of the "Roller" rooms. Further, your entire stake is committed in No Limit Mode (that is, you don’t get your stake back unless you win the game; leaving early forfeits all your tokens!). We recommend you practice first by playing in one of the Just For Fun rooms until you're comfortable with the game and the betting process.

Going All-In (No Limit Mode Only):
There is one case where all betting will cease and the remaining community cards will be revealed without further betting.  This occurs when at least one player bets all his tokens, at least one other person calls, and there is no one left with tokens to bet. At this point, since no more bets can be made, the player’s cards are revealed as are the remaining community cards.  The winner is then decided in what is usually a dramatic Showdown.

Hand Rankings:
When hands are revealed, the player with the highest hand wins. Here is a list of the possible hands you could make in poker, listed from highest to lowest.

Straight Flush - Five cards in sequence that are all the same suit. A Royal Flush is a special type of Straight Flush that goes from 10 to Ace.

Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank.

Full House - A three of a kind and a pair in the same hand.

Flush - Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence.

Straight - A sequence of cards in any suit. Please note that for a Straight, an Ace can be high or low, but it cannot "wrap around". In other words, A-2-3-4-5 is a straight, and 10-J-Q-K-A is a straight, but Q-K-A-2-3 is not.

Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank

Two Pair - Two different pairs of cards

One Pair - One pair of cards of the same rank (e.g. Two fours)

High Card - The highest card in your hand.

Why is there a "Start Game To Play With Empty Seats" button if... when you click it... all it does is drop you out of that game? Then you have to start the entire game entry process all over again? Seems useless to me. Or am I not doing it right?

Am I the only one who has noticed that this game glitches and freezes when the ads around the game are changing??? The worst offender recently seems to be the "moving" UTAH ad. I have found that if I "X" it out or "skip this ad" everything seems to regulate itself into a smoother running game. I know ads pay for this site, but perhaps they should be monitored so they don't interfere with the gamers. :?:

I activated the daring despardo badge, but I haven't received any tokens. Can anyone tell me what you need to do to win this badge? Thank you very much.

Then there must be a flaw in the programming. A winning player should get paid regardless of who stays in or who goes out or when they do it. I don't think it should be up to the players to have to monitor other players. However, I have been on the losing end of this game too often over too many times to see anything changing anytime soon. Guess we'll all jus have to "man up" and play it the way it is....warts and all! :(

How do I get credit for the two spins?

Thanks

Unfortunately, you cannot "get credit" for those two spins. My I suggest you play in the Limited game mode and in the Just for Fun Rooms. You only need to win 4 hands to get a JPS instead of a winning a whole tournament.

Hi -

Now I am playing "Get 8 Jackpot Spins this week! Earn Rustling Jackpots Badge, plus 3000 tokens." I just took my Jackpot Spin & I did not get credit towards the Badge, it still indicates I have to reach 8 Jackpot Spins.

I don't think it's right that you offer badges if certain criteria are met & then you don't award the badge, OR the 3000 tokens.

Don't you test these games before you offer the challenges?

When the next to last payer leaves before your final win, and you don't get credit or your 20K tokens, the only recourse is to write down their name and don't play another tournament with them again. Some do this on purpose out of poor sportsmanship.

Do you mean tokens?

If so, that is a known glitch. It seems to happen when the person in 2nd place leaves the game before the system has finished registering the win.

There's no estimate on when Pogo might get it fixed.

You could ask the players before the game starts to please stay until the win is registered but there is no guarantee they will listen to your request.
