Limit Mode
Limit Mode is a more casual version of No Limit Texas Hold ‘em.  It features a simplified betting system, the ability to join a game in progress, and the option to re-stake and continue playing when out of chips.  Limit Mode does not utilize the ratings feature.

No Limit Mode
No Limit Mode is a tournament-style Hold 'em poker game geared towards the more serious poker player.  In this mode, players stake once and play until only player remains.  Furthermore, betting is wide-open; the user can raise up to his entire stake at any time!  Four players are required to start a game, which gains intensity over time via increasing blinds.  Games can be rated and further regulated by a "rating required" option, which allows players to group by similar skill levels.

Jackpot & Tokens
There are two ways you can earn a Jackpot spin:
  • In Limit Mode, you must win 4 hands (spelling S P I N at the bottom of the screen).
  • In No Limit Mode, you win a Jackpot Spin by being the last player remaining.
The Jackpot Spinner spins like a slot machine. When it stops spinning, you'll win the prize indicated on the spinner or perhaps the JACKPOT itself! Members of Club Pogo are eligible for DOUBLE JACKPOTS!

Stakes & Tables
When you sit down at a table, you will contribute some of your token balance into your "Stake". This represents the amount of tokens you set aside for betting. All players who sit down at a table use the same stake. In this poker game, the nice thing about using a stake instead of your total token balance is that a player with a thousand tokens can play a player with a million tokens and it's still easy to tell who's ahead in the betting.

Practice First!
You're going to be winning and losing real tokens when you play any of the "Roller" rooms. Further, your entire stake is committed in No Limit Mode (that is, you don’t get your stake back unless you win the game; leaving early forfeits all your tokens!). We recommend you practice first by playing in one of the Just For Fun rooms until you're comfortable with the game and the betting process.

Going All-In (No Limit Mode Only):
There is one case where all betting will cease and the remaining community cards will be revealed without further betting.  This occurs when at least one player bets all his tokens, at least one other person calls, and there is no one left with tokens to bet. At this point, since no more bets can be made, the player’s cards are revealed as are the remaining community cards.  The winner is then decided in what is usually a dramatic Showdown.

Hand Rankings:
When hands are revealed, the player with the highest hand wins. Here is a list of the possible hands you could make in poker, listed from highest to lowest.

Straight Flush - Five cards in sequence that are all the same suit. A Royal Flush is a special type of Straight Flush that goes from 10 to Ace.

Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank.

Full House - A three of a kind and a pair in the same hand.

Flush - Any five cards of the same suit, but not in sequence.

Straight - A sequence of cards in any suit. Please note that for a Straight, an Ace can be high or low, but it cannot "wrap around". In other words, A-2-3-4-5 is a straight, and 10-J-Q-K-A is a straight, but Q-K-A-2-3 is not.

Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank

Two Pair - Two different pairs of cards

One Pair - One pair of cards of the same rank (e.g. Two fours)

High Card - The highest card in your hand.

No Limit Texas Hold'em • Re: Flash Oh NOOO

By Mod_Skratty » July 6th, 2014, 4:37 pm

The conversion of games from Java to Flash was not a capricious decision. Java has proven to be a very unsafe platform on which to build content - Oracle finds themselves updating the programming language constantly in response to those who would exploit its weaknesses. Pogo/EA made the decision to port its pre-existing Java games to a safer environment for its users.

Reducing our dependency on Java might mean that users need to update their Flash applications and/or security and content settings. Flash does take a lot of resources - reducing the number of programs running concurrently may help as will making sure that one's Flash Global Settings allow access to the game. Some browsers handle Flash better than others (Chrome is a good one to try) and browser add-ons such as AdBlock may need to have Pogo whitelisted in order to allow Flash games.

No Limit Texas Hold'em • Re: no credits

That's an ongoing glitch. It seems to happen to some people when the next to the last player leaves the game before the winning tokens are awarded.
Pogo is aware of it but there is no anticipated fix date.

You earned the badge on the 27th.

One surefire way to know if a badge has been earned or not is to check to see if it's in your Badges list - click on the link on your Pogo homepage; it will be the link under your “stuff” directly under your mini. If you see it there, you’ve completed the challenge.

You can scroll underneath the game and choose a room from the Chat Room list. You can set up your own table or you can join a person's table. What happens when you try that?

At the top of the Chat Rooms tab, it lets you choose your Game Mode. If you are trying to get jackpot spins, you want to choose Limit Games as your Game Mode so that you get a jackpot spin for every 4 hands that you win. You need to adjust that setting and then select a chat room.

The Lobby/Table Select is behind your game screen. I don't know how to do it with a Mac, buy with Windows you use the Restore down button to reduce the size of the screen around the game, and you can then move it over. You can position the Lobby to make it viewable at all times. To change room, use the Chat Room tab and change rooms. ;)
