Travel the Globe

When it's your turn in MONOPOLY, you click the "Roll" button to roll the dice and move your MONOPOLY piece the number of spaces indicated on your roll. What happens next depends on the space you land on...

Un-owned property
You can buy the property if you want. If not, the property will get auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Property owned by somebody else
Like the classic board game, you pay the owner rent. The amount of rent you pay depends on whether the space is part of a complete color group or has any houses or hotels or it.

Mortgaged Property
You don't need to pay rent. (Woo hoo!)

Income Tax or Luxury Tax space
You'll need to pay either 2.00M, or 1.00M, respectively.

Community Chest or Chance card
Draw the next card off the deck and do what it says.

If you land on or pass GO, you collect 2.00M!

Jail
Spend some time in the Just Visiting area.

Free Parking
According to official MONOPOLY board game rules, nothing happens. But we know that lots of you like playing with the rule that gives you cash if you land on Free Parking. So in many versions of our house rules, you'll get some money for landing on Free Parking.

Go To Jail
Go to jail! Without a trial even. Boo!

If you roll doubles, then at the end of your current move, you get to roll again. And if you roll doubles after that, you get to roll again. But if you roll doubles three times in a row, you get sent to jail. (Too much of a good thing...)

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Monopoly The World Edition player.

For those of you who are used to playing classic MONOPOLY board game, you might have noticed the "10% of your wealth" option has gone away on the Income Tax space. It's always just 2.00M now.

One of the keys to winning this MONOPOLY online board game is to collect all the properties in the same color group and build houses and hotels on them. That'll increase the rents and make you the most money.

Some tricky MONOPOLY players won't build hotels. They'll just put as many houses as they can on all the properties they own, so that there aren't any left for their opponents to use!

If you have a choice between mortgaging a property or selling houses and hotels, you should mortgage all you can first. It's a much better deal.

Expert MONOPOLY players like to get out of jail quickly at the beginning of the game, so they don't miss a chance to buy properties. But they sometimes like to stay in jail later in the game because they can avoid paying rent on other players' properties.

If you need to raise cash and want to do it in a jiffy, click the "Mortgage/Sell" button, and then click the Auto Mortgage button in the window that appears.

Nominating a player can be a nice way of wrapping up a game when it's obvious that somebody's going to win. It helps prevent the losing players from getting bored and leaving the game.

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Re: Monopoly Crashing Nearly Every Game

By gramoox5 » July 22nd, 2016, 5:46 pm

I am having the same problem and it is only with this game so I am certain the problem is with the game and not my system as they keep telling me. I have updated FlashPlayer and cleared my browser history and anything else that has been suggested. Very frustrating to spend up to an hour, especially on a badge, and have the game crash as you near the end.

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Re: Buying houses & hotels pop up forcing mortgages

I do not click to ignore offers from the robots.. I learned not to do that a while ago.
The freezing is happening at random times.
I do not believe it is due to my standing in the game, it just that that is when I hate the freezing the most.. because I'm gonna win in a few more moves so I don't want to leave the game...haha.

I have noticed MOST (not all) of the freezing happens when I "counter offer" one of the robots. So I get that could be why it is freezing there.. but it also freezes when I end a turn or a robot is in a turn.. maybe that robot made an offer to another robot and there was a counter offer made and it froze there. That could very well be the problem. But it doesn't matter, I have learned to deal with it.

I edited this because I realized I should also add.. when the game freezes.. the timer freezes too... so I think it could very well be that flash has maxed out my laptop's capacity momentarily and giving it those few minutes, it will go back to normal. Right before the unfreeze happens.. I will hear a sound effect.. the one you normally hear throughout the game as each action is taken by each player... and then within 1-30 seconds it will unfreeze.

The freezing you've described tends to happen when you've clicked to ignore offers from a robot. The offer and waiting time is happening "behind the scene" and you're stuck until the timer completes it's countdown. Don't click "ignore offers" to prevent that long time glitch from happening.

It doesn't have anything to do with where you stand in the game.

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Re: Buying houses & hotels pop up forcing mortgages

By imnotaduck » July 8th, 2016, 3:06 am

As I am trying to rank out on this game, I play it daily. I have come to realize this is one of a few glitches in the game and I have decided to just accept them...
such as:
1. Sometimes when I have to sell/mortgage to pay rent, immediately after I make those decisions and click to complete the action, the actions happen and then the box pops back up exactly as before (asking for the same amount of money to sell/mortgage for) and I've found that is simply a glitch and all I have to do is click "cancel" and I'm back to playing.
2. Sometimes the game freezes when I'm doing very well and I found that if I wait it out, it will continue. It usually unfreezes after about two minutes, but I have waited five minutes before.
3. Sometimes the game jumps forward and all three of the robots will have moved instantaneously and money is flying around and I have to pause it for a second to see what has happened so I can plan my strategy for that next move.
4. And then my issue this thread was about. Sometimes I will buy one row of houses and end up with two and sometimes I will buy my last row of houses and I get hotels. My work around for when I'm low on funds is to buy two out of the three houses and then buy the third on my next turn. This weekend, I was playing on my laptop on the couch while my husband was watching a F1 race and I must have yelled out because my husband said "What? Did those robots get you?" hahaha. Nope.. I had bought my second row of houses on a set and ended up with hotels which meant I had to sell all those houses and mortgage some property to recover the debt owed due to the glitch.

It is extremely frustrating. When scrolling through the purchase, choose one house at a time, rather than immediately scrolling through two or three.

I click on the numbers. The game seems to multi-click them. :(

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Trading / Offer $$ bug?

By ASYLUMFX » June 21st, 2016, 12:59 pm

I've noticed this in the games with the computer. But it does happen when playing with people.

IE: You want to trade with a player. So you click on the trade button. Next click the player to trade with.
After you decide what (property) you want. As you click on the amount you want to offer, it comes out wrong.

I want to offer: $1.25m but it comes out $11.25m, $112.5m , etc.

This is a real pita, and takes the fun out of the game. :(

I checked all my settings. It does not happen all the time, just at the worst possible time :(
I've begun adding just one house at a time when I'm down to little money.

Check your custom settings to see how many houses you're requiring for a hotel.

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Buying houses & hotels pop up forcing mortgages

By imnotaduck » June 7th, 2016, 8:51 am

In the past 24 hours I've had this happen to me during three separate games.
I customize and play with bots.
I generally buy all 2-3 houses for a set of properties at a time.
When purchasing my 4th group of houses... and I've doubled checked to make sure I haven't accidentally clicked on the hotels yet... the houses will start to fall and then poof.. they go away and hotels drop down. All three times this has happened when I have limited funds, so I am ONLY able to afford those houses.. I am then forced to sell those hotels and houses I had just bought.. and sometimes additional properties.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how did you stop it from happening?
Thanks!

Monopoly H&N: World Edition • Re: Counteroffer Badge

By uppmann34 » June 6th, 2016, 12:23 am

thanks for the heads up. I never look in my books I just look at my recently won badges that is in descending order starting today and backwards. I also look under challenges or badges in individual games. Generally once you win the badge there it disappears and no longer presents as a challenge. as of 2009, I have no idea what I may have done then or any subsequent year. Thanks for the quick response.
