The basic goal in all Mini Golf games is to sink the ball into the cup in the fewest shots possible, and Mini Golf Madness is no exception to that rule. The fewer shots it takes to sink the ball, the better your score and the more Tokens you'll win.

Unlike most other Pogo games, Mini Golf Madness features a menu system that allows you to choose which course you'd like to play.

There are two kinds of courses:
- "Standard" Pogo courses: These courses are always available, and the list will grow over time. There will be a total of four courses available to start (including one Club Pogo-exclusive course), but new courses will be added over time, so keep coming back to look for more new holes to play! Club Pogo members will have access to more exclusive Mini Golf Madness courses over time.

- "Weekly" courses: As you might expect from the name, these courses are generated every week by randomly pulling holes from the current "Standard" courses. That means you'll see holes you've already played before but in an entirely different order than you're used to, making for a whole new game experience! Weekly courses will be available for several months before being cleared from the list.

You can see how difficult a course is in one of two ways - either by reading the course description, or by looking at the icon to the right of the course name. A bronze ball represents an easy course, a silver ball represents a medium course, and a gold ball represents a hard course.

Once you've selected the course you want to play, you can choose from 3 different options: Front 9, Back 9, or Full Course. Playing the front or back 9 is good for practicing and honing your Mini Golf game skills, but you won't get a Jackpot Spin unless you play through a full 18-hole course. Some future courses may only have 9 holes - in that case only the Full Course button will be available.

So before you can shoot the ball, you have to place the ball on the tee. When you start a new hole, the game will give you some information about new elements you haven't seen before. After clearing out these dialogs, you'll have the opportunity to place the ball anywhere on the tee. Of course, before you decide where to tee up, you might want to know more about the hole - like the best path to approach from.

The camera starts zoomed as far from the hole as possible, but you can zoom into the hole to focus down on whatever details you find most important. There are a few ways to do this using the Zoom Meter, which is located on the golf bag in the lower-right corner of the screen. You can either click the +/- signs at the top and bottom of the bar, grab and drag the Zoom slider, or click anywhere along the Zoom bar to instantly move to that zoom level. You can also roll the mouse wheel to quickly and easily adjust the zoom level. Clicking the mouse wheel button will return the camera to the most zoomed out view.

The interface for shooting the ball in Mini Golf Madness is fairly simple - move the aiming line where you want the ball to go, pull away from the ball to set the strength of your shot, then click the left mouse button to shoot. Simple, right? Don't worry about inadvertently shooting the ball when you click to pan the screen, either - we detect movement before you release the mouse button, so you won't shoot by accident.

Just like regular Mini Golf, the lower your score, the better you're doing. Each hole has a "Par" setting, which tells you the average number of "strokes" expected to complete the hole - shooting more shots than that puts you over Par, while shooting less puts you under Par. No matter what the Par value of the hole is, the rating of your success is the same, according to this chart.

Here are some tips and tricks to becoming an expert at Mini Golf games.

If you're new to the game, take a minute to get a feel for the Mini Golf Madness interface.Aiming and shooting is pretty simple, but get used to hitting shots of different speeds and see how the ball responds. Also, try panning and zooming around the first few holes to get used to the controls - once you've got that down, it will make things a lot easier as you play on.

You probably won't get an amazing score the first time through a new course, but that's okay! They're meant to be difficult to master, but it is possible to score below Par - sometimes even more than one shot below Par - on each and every hole in the game. (Trust us, we built them!)

Pay close attention to how the ball bounces off walls and obstacles, and especially what happens to the ball when it rolls over course features like sand, rough, and ice. You'll have to take the effect of these hazards into account on most shots in order to get good scores in Mini Golf Madness.

On certain shots (especially from the tee), it may be possible to align the aiming vector with a landmark - such as a particular bend in a wall or nearby obstacle - to help you line up a reliable shot.

If you're close to the cup, be careful with how hard you shoot the ball. It is possible for the ball to go so fast that it loops around or "skips" over the cup.

It's easy to forget about your power-ups sometimes in Mini Golf Madness, but that would be a crying shame - some of them can really help you out when the situation calls for it. If you forget what they do, just mouse over a power-up icon to see its description again.

Playing a 9-hole course won't get you a Jackpot Spin, but it will give you an opportunity to play a specific set of holes over and over until you master them. You'll still win Tokens and earn rank progress, too!

I have played so many holes that have NOT gotten credit for should have attained the badge by now!!

You won the badge yesterday.
Click on your screen name at the top of the page to go to your Profile page.
Scroll down a bit on that page, click BADGES (next to About Me) and you will see the badge.

I'm trying to do this badge:
Mini Golf Madness
Bearly a Hole-in-One Badge
Play 211 Holes this week!
Win this badge plus 2,000 Tokens
I have played so many holes that have NOT gotten credit for should have attained the badge by now!!
I never play with sound on.
I have played both 9 holes Front & Back & 18 holes ... sometimes get credit for either, other times don't!!!
Getting sick of playing & NOT getting credit, ugh, what a waste of time!!!
Any suggestions apart from usual cleaning?

I have tried the full course, just the front 9, and just the back 9 and it continually happens. Any new ideas?
Are you muting your computer speakers or the browser tab or are you muting Pogo by clicking the speaker icon on the left side of the lower black bar within the game window? If you aren't muting within the Pogo game window, try that.

Have you tried using a different browser?
Pale Moon is a great browser and it works with all the games - Java, Flash, and the new HTML5 games.
Pogo won't troubleshoot any issues that may arise while using it because it is not one of the major browsers, but it's my favorite browser and I am not experiencing issues in the games.
It's a good idea to have access to more than one browser because you can switch to the other one if the browser you regularly use is not producing the desired results.

I purchased all the re-released Badge for Mini Golf and I had a lot of problems using IE11, and, Firefox doesn't support Java.
So I installed Pale Moon. Problems were solved.

i have the same problem. I have played on a windows 10 desktop and a window 10 laptop - both using IE 11.

On desktop:
Java Version J8U65. Firefox reports that it does not work well with this version and won't let me play. i attempted to update java, but was told by the updater that this is the latest version. I select "warm up", first 9. the screen comes up but no ball

On laptop, the selector is missing complete (no front nine, back nine). if i blindly click in the area, it brings me to "some" game/ however, at some point (this has been as early as the first green or as late as the 7th), the balls stop appearing. Furthermore, the game is non responsive if i click the "new game" button

The only way to recover the page appears to be refreshing the screen

I have seen this now on 2 different computers, at 2 different locations, which rules out router, and cached information. Prior to attempting this badge, i've not played the game in well over a year, and never on my laptop (which is only 6 months old)

i understand the forum is members helping members - and not customer support. I would appreciate knowing if anyone CAN successfully play a full round on this game currently

thank you

ps - i did mute the game and restart. i got a "cripes" after clearing the temp files and restarting the browser, it appears to work better. i do hope the defect is under investigation

Mute the game sound after you load the game, before you start to play. The speaker icon is located on the left side of the bottom black bar beside the question mark. Be sure to unmute before you leave if you want sound in other older Pogo games because the sound setting for the those games is connected and muting one mutes them all.

Just to clarify:
You are trying to win the A-maz-ing Challenge from Feb 15, 2012?
The Badge is activated?
Are you selecting the Full Course?
Are you completing all 18 holes at the same time?
And, you are winning the entire 18 holes under par?
Have you checked under the Challenge tab so make sure your Badge is active and that you're getting progress after the game is completed?
