Crossword Cove is a single player word game with a few special Pogo twists. The goal of the game is to fill in all of the words correctly based on the clues in the Across and Down lists.

Click on a square on the puzzle grid to select a clue. Click on the same square again to switch between the Across and Down clues, or press the Space Bar. Type in the answer using the keyboard; use Delete or Backspace to delete letters.

The Stars on the grid are Star Powerups; correctly answer the corresponding clue to collect the powerup, and it will be added to the Powerup Counter (the star with a number next to it). Click on the Powerup Counter to activate the powerup, and it will reveal the most common letters in the puzzle.

Click on the HINT button to see the answer in word-jumble form, and then reorder the letters to find the correct answer. In this word game, you receive half points for filling in an answer with Hint.

If you still can't figure out the answer from the hint, the HINT button will have changed to the SOLVE button, and you can click that to have the answer filled in automatically. You receive no points for filling in a word with Solve.

Click the blue EXPANDED CLUE LIST button for an expanded clue list which you can place on the screen wherever you prefer. You can switch the expanded clue list between a side-by-side and top-and-bottom view by clicking the ROTATE button.

When you complete a puzzle, or would simply like to give up, click the ALL DONE button. You can then click the SUBMIT button to score the puzzle, or click the CHECK ANSWERS button have the computer check your answers and reveal any mistakes to you. You can also click the CANCEL button to return to the puzzle without checking your answers.

Here are some tips to make you a Crossword Cove winner!

Use the powerups as soon as you get them; the more of the puzzle you've filled in, the less help they will be.

Use Hint if you need a kick start to this word game puzzle; you'll lose a few points, but that one answer might help you answer many other clues.

Use the Expanded Clue List to get a better look at all the clues together; you can scan through them more easily and find the clues you can answer.

While everybody earns ranks in Pogo games, only Club Pogo members earn badges when they rank up! When you reach certain ranks, not only will Club Pogo members earn a new rank, but you'll also get a nifty badge to celebrate your accomplishment that you can display next to your name. See if you can be the first person on your block to earn these badges! (Please note that turning off your neighbor's electricity in order to be the first on your block is not condoned by Pogo.)

To find out more about the badges available for this game, please check out the Game Award book in Badge Central.

And, one that I completely agree with. The same thing happened with Family Feud and Snood. It's about contacts and licensing.

This is your speculation.

In fact they say the opposite. Read the article Mod_jada linked above.
They think it's a good idea to change the game, they want to try something "new and fun".
They want to run polls to see if people like the new layout. Why would they run polls if they had no choice?

I know this probably isn't the right place to put this but I agree with leaving Crossword Cove alone or at least offer both choices. I just started playing the American way and REALLY don't want to have to change now. Thanks.

It's like when Family Feud was discontinued. Pogo can't use something when the owning company won't license it to them.

Hi All,

I think it would be a good idea if you keep both formats and see what people think rather than taking one away that people enjoy so much. That way we could vote. It would be interesting to hear what the Pogo people from the UK think. They might want the US version. I like when we have the words using UK english sometimes.

Just a thought.

Thank you Mod-Jada. I missed that news article. I do understand, but like everyone else, I'm not very happy about it. Pogo in general, and Crossword Cove in particular, are my "fixes" for the day...every day! So sorry to see this happen. I will try it of course, but it doesn't look very interesting.

The Edge browser has been causing issues for some players so Pogo recommends trying another support browser for this game.

Supported browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome.

Every time I try to load a saved puzzle it gives me an error, it says to try clearing my cache which I have and it still won't work. It also doesn't show letters when I type in answers if I start a new puzzle. I'm on Microsoft Edge browser if this helps.
