Pogo Recipe: Peanut Butter Blossoms

Makes 2 1/2 Dozen Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Shortening
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Sugar (Granulated)
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/8 tsp Baking Soda
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
1 3/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1/4 Cup Sugar (Granulated)
1 Bag Chocolate Kisses
Preheat Oven to: 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Instructions:
  1. Beat shortening and peanut butter in a large bowl at medium speed for about 30 seconds.
  2. Add granulated sugar (1/2 Cup), brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Continue to beat batter until everything is thoroughly mixed.
  4. Add egg, milk, and vanilla, beat again until well combined.
  5. Add flour gradually, continuing to beat as added.
  6. If batter is very sticky, refridgerate dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Using your hands, roll the dough into 1-inch balls.
  8. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to cover completely
  9. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350°F or until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.
  11. While cookies are baking, unwrap the chocolate kisses from their foils.
  12. While still hot, press a chocolate kiss into the middle of each cookie.
  13. Transfer to wire racks and let cool.
