Pogo Recipe: Linda's Favorite Oatmeal Cookies

Makes 4-5 Dozen Cookies
Ingredients:
1 Cup Raisins
1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Soda
4 Tbsp Sour Milk
2 1/2 Cups Quick-Cooking Oatmeal
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
Preheat Oven to: 375 Degrees Fahrenheit
Instructions:
  1. Pour boiling water over raisins and let stand for a few minutes until the raisins are plump.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream shortening and sugar together.
  3. Add eggs to shortening mix one at a time, beating thoroughly
  4. Add vanilla and salt to the mixture.
  5. Drain raisins; add to the shortening mixture.
  6. Dissolve baking soda into the sour milk in a medium bowl. (It's possible to artificially sour milk by adding vinegar to it, but natural soured milk is much better.)
  7. Add uncooked oatmeal to the milk, blending thoroughly.
  8. Mix everything together in a single bowl. Add the flour to this mixture.
  9. Drop by teaspoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet. Cookies should be about 2" apart.
  10. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 375°F.
