Pogo Recipe: Bon Bon Cookies

Makes 18-24 Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Butter (softened)
3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar (sifter)
1 Tbsp Vanilla
Food Coloring (optional)
1 1/2 Cups Flour (sifted)
1/8 tsp Salt
24 Maraschino Cherries
Preheat Oven to: 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Instructions:
  1. Mix butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and food coloring together until well combined.
  2. Stir in the sifted flour and salt by hand.
  3. If dough is dry, add 1 or 2 tablespoons milk.
  4. Wrap a spoonful of dough around a maraschino cherry. (You can substitute cherries with other fillings. E.g. nuts, dates, gumdrops, chocolate...etc.)
  5. Place the cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350°F until set but not brown
  7. For icing, mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and food coloring.
  8. Transfer cookies to wire racks.
  9. Dip tops in icing.
  10. If desired, decorate with chopped nuts, coconut, candied fruit, or chocolate pieces.
