Pogo Recipe: Bon Bon Cookies
Makes 18-24 Cookies
Ingredients:
| 1/2 Cup | Butter (softened) |
| 3/4 Cup | Powdered Sugar (sifter) |
| 1 Tbsp | Vanilla |
| | Food Coloring (optional) |
| | |
| 1 1/2 Cups | Flour (sifted) |
| 1/8 tsp | Salt |
| | |
| 24 | Maraschino Cherries |
Preheat Oven to: 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
Instructions:
- Mix butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and food coloring together until well combined.
- Stir in the sifted flour and salt by hand.
- If dough is dry, add 1 or 2 tablespoons milk.
- Wrap a spoonful of dough around a maraschino cherry. (You can substitute cherries with other fillings. E.g. nuts, dates, gumdrops, chocolate...etc.)
- Place the cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350°F until set but not brown
- For icing, mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and food coloring.
- Transfer cookies to wire racks.
- Dip tops in icing.
- If desired, decorate with chopped nuts, coconut, candied fruit, or chocolate pieces.
